A Retirement Bungalow

My elderly client moved to a bungalow in a retirement community, leaving behind her beloved, large and very beautiful garden. She was presented with a bleak and woefully uninspiring outlook, with nothing but paving, a fence and gravel. She needed an easily maintained garden that would still offer some gardening, with interest throughout the year and a beautiful view from her armchair.

The design retained the patio and fence, but added an attractive rope edging to the border, with a trellis on the bare wall. The gravel has been replaced by a lovely selection of evergreen and flowering shrubs and attractive seasonal perennials. There are planters for spring bulbs and summer annuals, which provides colour and an opportunity for some easy gardening. The images show the garden in it’s first and second year.
