Pas de Calais garden
A holiday home in Northern France needed a planting design that reflected the rural farming area, and allowed views across the fields.
Trees were removed or pruned, and the view towards the countryside was revealed. A ‘hot’ border was created with vibrant late summer perennials and grasses including Rudbeckia, Sedums, Heucheras and Crocosmia, with the tall waving grass Calamagrostis ‘Overdam’ to reflect the distant arable crops.
The planting in the woodland area uses a cooler colour palette, with Hydrangea ‘Annabelle’, Cornus ‘Elegantissima’, hostas, pink roses and persicaria.
